What You Need To Know About COVID-19 and ADA Compliance

The coronavirus impacts everyone—in every class, race, and demographic.

We are all working together as a community to ensure we’re doing our part in protecting each other from getting sick, caring for the sick, and supporting the workers that are dedicated to doing this every day.

As parents, we are focused on keeping our family healthy and ensuring we can provide for them financially. This virus and quarantine poses challenges we’ve never faced in our modern society.

As business leaders, this is a challenging time to navigate how to support and care for your employees. With the new laws going into effect (FFCRA) and exceptions or changes to other laws, how do we ensure we are protecting our company?

Understanding and educating yourself on human resource law and management will be essential during this time.

Most of us in HR are very familiar with the ADA, Americans with Disabilities Act. Some of us may need to review how the ADA applies to COVID-19. With all of the changes in business needs, employee support, and legislation staying up to date will be an integral part of being a responsible employer.

The ADA and Rehabilitation Act rules continue to apply, but they do not interfere with or prevent employers from following the guidelines and suggestions made by the CDC or state/local public health authorities about steps employers should take regarding COVID-19.

Please reach out to us if we can help provide additional resources, consulting, or guidance.
