IT Staffing Challenges On The Rise & Why You Need To Take Action

With the global corona-virus pandemic—hiring may not be your top priority, understandably.

However, as hiring managers, we will need to prepare for the continued shortage of IT talent as the number of US tech jobs is projected to grow by 13.1% from now to 2026. We saw a net gain of 33.5k positions in January and February. Last year there were 4.2 million unfilled IT jobs. Due to that shortage, 87% of companies outsourced in order to fill or contract out IT positions.

When it comes to IT talent, the competition will remain competitive and in low supply.

"You will have to fight with other employers over a limited pool of IT candidates. It will take you longer to hire, and you'll have to pay more to get what you need." said Matt Sigelman, CEO of research firm Burning Glass Technologies.

If you are currently seeking, or will need to fill, IT positions for your business in the coming months— now is the time to take action.
