Learn More About The Newly Passed FFCRA

The Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) was just passed and will be signed into law soon. So, what do we need to know as employers and employees? How does this impact you and your company?

The law is an amendment to the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), expanding and providing paid leave benefits and unemployment. Unlike the previous FMLA stipulations, the bill covers companies with “up to 500 employees”, not a 50 person minimum.

The National Law Review provides specific details of the benefits that apply to employees and employers subject to a quarantine. FMLA is an unpaid benefit but protects your right to keep your employment. FFCRA provides full pay up to $5,110 for employees on sick leave.

Employers receive tax credits for 100% of what they pay out to their employees or can be exempt from the requirements if they have 50 or fewer employees.
